Born Blue Han Nolan Books
I just finished this remarkable book. I've never read anything like it. Since my grandson actually read it first and recommended it to me, I never expected the writing to be so deep and mature. The story was psychologically riveting and complex. I work in mental health and most of my clients have suffered from abuse and attachment trauma. I have already promised my copy to a young woman whom I had in mind throughout this story, her own mother being a drug addict. Although painful, just a wonderful book. No sugar-coated happy ending here, so be ready, but it's worth it.Tags : Amazon.com: Born Blue (9780152046972): Han Nolan: Books,Han Nolan,Born Blue,HMH Books for Young Readers,0152046976,Social Issues - Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,Social Issues - Emotions & Feelings,Social Issues - Physical & Emotional Abuse,Reading Group Guide,Abandoned children,Abandoned children;Fiction.,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),Fiction,Fiction-General,JUVENILE,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Fiction General,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Emotions & Feelings,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Physical & Emotional Abuse,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Self-Esteem & Self-Reliance,Juvenile Grades 10-12 Ages 15+,Mothers and daughters,Mothers and daughters;Fiction.,Singers,Singers;Fiction.,Social Themes - Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,Social Themes - Emotions & Feelings,Social Themes - Physical & Emotional Abuse,TEEN'S FICTION - COMING OF AGE,United States,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,YOUNG ADULT FICTION General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Emotions & Feelings,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Physical & Emotional Abuse (see also Social Themes Sexual Abuse),YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Self-Esteem & Self-Reliance,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Physical & Emotional Abuse (see also Social Themes - Sexual,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Self-Esteem & Self-Reliance,Juvenile Fiction General,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Drugs, Alcohol, Substance Abuse,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Emotions & Feelings,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Physical & Emotional Abuse,Juvenile Fiction Social Issues Self-Esteem & Self-Reliance,Social Issues - Drugs, Alcohol, & Substance Abuse,Children's 12-Up - Fiction - General,Abandoned children,Fiction,Mothers and daughters,Singers,Juvenile Fiction,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12)
Born Blue Han Nolan Books Reviews
Good lessons in the book which was sort of unexpected. Cannot wait to get another with the same type of suspense. She would not put it down to eat.
Without a doubt my favorite book. It has been for years and I couldn't be happier that I own it. Now I can read it anytime without checking it out. I loved how fast it came.
This novel was recommended for my daughter by her Language Arts teacher. It was a fast read, but there are several typos throughout the book. Otherwise it was a great read.
love it
I read this book once and couldnt stop reading it. It was such a great book. I highly recommend it, especially if you liked a child called it
This book had easy-to-read format and vocabulary, yet it was on the recommended list fo a school districts gifted student list. This was an appropriate book at the high school for inner city students who find they can relate with the story and the characters. I had no trouble getting my students to take turns reading, doing their homework, and writing on this book. It hit home for my low-income students who are faced with sexuality, drugs, alcohol, running away, and poor choices. It was excellent for discussing what alternate choices could have been made and what those outcomes could have been.
I started reading this school in middle school and never finished it. For years and years I remembered the name and had wanted to read it. When I finally found it, I was ecstatic. The book was what I expected, though it had a lot of grammatical errors, ones that didn't include how Janie 'Leshaya' spoke. I also wasn't fond of how it ended. Left me wanting more.
